London. Brutal local market.
London, UK · Minicab Service every borough on the map

Aero link. A London map, page by page

London ride-and-airport-transfer business competing against Uber, Bolt, and dozens of local operators for every single “[borough] minicab”, “[airport] transfer”, and “[origin] to [destination]” query in the city. We didn’t need a thousand pages. We needed twenty-four pages that ranked — one for each priority service area — plus five deep location builds doing the heavy editorial lifting. The kind of grind-it-out local SEO work that doesn’t make headlines but moves bookings.

№ 01 · The Brief

The
problem
on the table.

London is one of the most competitive local search markets on the planet. Uber, Bolt, and dozens of established operators are already there. Aerolink needed a way in.

№ 01

Uber and Bolt sitting on every query

Type “minicab in Hammersmith” into Google. The apps own the top of the page. Map pack has the big operators. Local independent transport businesses get shoved below the fold before they’ve had a chance to compete. Default outcome: invisible.

№ 02

Search demand is fragmented by geography

No single page can rank for “London minicab.” London is 32 boroughs, 5 airports, hundreds of named neighborhoods, and thousands of route pairs. Heathrow to Kensington, Gatwick to Canary Wharf, City Airport to Mayfair. Each one is its own search query with its own competitors. One generic page solves nothing.

№ 03

A booking site that needed to actually book

SEO traffic is wasted if the site can’t convert it. The existing setup made booking feel like an afterthought — three clicks deep, no clear price, no airport pre-fills, mobile experience broken. Local SEO without a working booking flow is just expensive vanity rankings.

№ 04

Programmatic SEO done badly is worse than nothing

The temptation in local SEO is to spin up 500 thin doorway pages — one for every neighborhood and route pair — and pray. Google penalizes that now. Twenty-four genuinely useful pages outrank five hundred templated ones, every time. The work was knowing where to draw the line.

№ 02 · The Approach

Two workstreams.
One local domination playbook.

01

Local SEO
architecture

24 priority pages mapped to the highest-intent local queries Aerolink could realistically win — key boroughs, airport transfers, named route pairs — plus 5 full editorial location builds doing the heavy lifting on the most strategic locations. Every page genuinely useful to a human booking a ride. None of them filler.

№ 07 · FAQ

Honest
questions.
Honest answers.

Can independent local operators really compete with Uber and Bolt on Google?+

Not on every query, but on a meaningful subset, yes. The apps dominate top-of-funnel and high-volume queries — “cab near me”, “ride to Heathrow.” What independent operators can win is the specific, intent-rich, longer-tail stuff: airport transfers from specific neighborhoods, scheduled rides, group bookings, named route pairs, and queries where map-pack independents outrank a Bolt listing. Twenty-four well-built pages targeting the right twenty-four queries beats a thousand thin pages chasing impossible terms.

Why only 24 pages? Other agencies promise hundreds.+

Because Google’s 2024+ updates made thin programmatic content actively dangerous — pages get crawled, classified as low-quality, and drag the rest of the site down with them. The honest math is: 24 genuinely useful pages outperform 500 templated doorway pages, every time. We mapped the realistic-win priority list and built exactly that many. An agency promising 500-page programmatic local SEO in 2026 is selling something a 2022 playbook said worked.

Can we share Aerolink’s actual ranking and booking numbers?+

That data is Aerolink’s. We don’t publish someone else’s GSC dashboards or booking analytics without explicit permission. What we can confirm: the site is live, the 24 pages and 5 deep location builds are shipped, the booking flow works, and the engagement continues. For specifics on map-pack movement or organic-traffic shape, we’ll request permission and walk you through it on a call.

Why custom WordPress instead of a page builder?+

Local SEO lives or dies on mobile Core Web Vitals. Most searches happen on a phone in a rush. Page builders bloat the DOM, ship megabytes of unused CSS, and turn perfectly tuneable sites into Lighthouse disasters. A custom theme written for the specific use case ships a fraction of the bytes, loads instantly, and gives Google nothing to penalize. For a booking site, every wasted millisecond is a lost ride.

How long before local SEO results show up?+

Local SEO is faster than national SEO, but it’s not instant. The first 4–8 weeks after launch are indexation and initial map-pack movement. Months 2–4 you start seeing pages rank for the named borough and route-pair queries we targeted. Months 4–6 the cumulative effect of GBP signals + on-page schema + page quality compounds, and the map pack starts to behave. Anyone promising you map-pack-three in week two is making a promise they can’t keep.

Can you run this playbook for our service-area business?+

If you sell a service inside a defined geographic area — transport, plumbing, pest control, cleaning, dental, legal, you name it — this exact playbook applies. We’ll start with a free local-SEO audit covering your GBP, on-page coverage, schema, and competitor map-pack landscape, then tell you honestly which areas are realistic wins and which aren’t worth chasing. No 80-slide opportunity decks. Just the sequenced plan and someone accountable for shipping it.
